Fire Safety Unit Study

As part of our Preschool lessons, we are doing a theme every week, or we sometimes keep the theme for two weeks. The theme this past week was Fire Safety.

You can check out more themes here.

Fire Safety is very important. Knowing what to do in case of a fire could possibly save a life. This unit study covers not only escape routes, meet-up points, and stop, drop, and roll, but it also includes fun learning worksheets to incorporate into your theme week.

Books

In starting our unit study, we made a trip to the library and rounded up our reading material. We found What If There Is a Fire? this book was very good at explaining what to do if there was a fire. Mose The Fireman was a great store with good pictures. The Going to the Firehouse is a great easy reader and good for beginning readers. The Fire Department, Fire Trucks in Action, and Fire Stations in Action are great non-fictions that show what firemen do, what tools they use and are perfect for those firefighter loving kiddos.

Activities

We visited our local firehouse and got to look at the fire trucks and talk to the firefighters. If you live near a station, I strongly recommend a visit.
