3 Tips to Save Money This Holiday Season
The last couple of years we have gone all out for Christmas. The kiddos get a bunch of presents and then proceed to lose interest in them by January. This year we are going to go small scale. I have been reading a lot lately about minimalism. We are in the process of moving and purging some of our possessions. It is such a relief to not have all the clutter. Plus, with buying less, we will also be saving money! Win Win!!
Make a list & Stick to it (Free printable!)
This will be my biggest challenge. But making a list and sticking to will help you save money. One of my family's traditions is to go Black Friday shopping. My in-laws, husband, dad and myself set out after stuffing ourselves with Thanksgiving dinner to score some deals. Even if we don't get what we went for it is so fun to hang out until the wee hours of the morning with the family. I plan to print this Christmas Shopping List out to keep with me. Ahead of going shopping we gather all the ads and compare what store has what and where the best deal is which brings me to the next tip!
Price Comparison
Compare prices on everything you purchase. Whether it is using the print ads that come with the paper or comparison shopping on the internet. This will help you save money in the long run. One of my biggest tools for comparing prices is using the Chrome extension Honey. Honey works great with Amazon, which might be one of my favorite ways to shop. (You can try Amazon Prime 30-Day Free Trial by using this link.) Once you click on an item, the Honey extension will show if you if this is the “best deal” or if there is an option to get it cheaper. You can also add it to your droplist and Honey will watch it for 60 days for the lowest price. Honey also will find coupons for you at checkout for numerous different retailers and will give you a percentage back.
Coupons and Cash Back
And last but not least, coupons and cash back. You can use Chrome Extensions such as Honey or my favorite for cash back is Ebates. If you use this link you get $10 free, to date I have made 190.31 just by shopping online. For mobile, I use Ibotta. This is great for everyday items and grocery shopping. If you use this link you will get a $10 welcome bonus, use the referral code “myfgcuc”. While both of these are awesome for making money back, it is important not to buy just because there is a coupon. My tip is to make the purchases that you usually do and then check Ibotta. And with Ebates check it before you check out online.
