As the teacher, your mindset will be the most significant influence on how your homeschool day goes. If you have homeschool mom burnout, chances are your homeschool day will suffer. To prevent homeschool mom burnout, you need to shift your mindset. Here are a few ways to do that:

Tips to Prevent Homeschool Mom Burnout

-Remember that homeschooling is a marathon, not a sprint. You cannot do it all in one day! Take your time and enjoy the journey. What you don't get done today can be done tomorrow.

-Focus on the positive. There will be days when homeschooling is hard, but try to focus on the good. Think about all your child's progress and how much fun you are having! For me, writing down in my planner at least one thing I am grateful for that day or even how the day went helps so much.

-Take breaks. Homeschooling can be exhausting, so make sure to take breaks throughout the day. Not only for you, but your kids will benefit as well. Take a few minutes to yourself every couple of hours to relax and reset.

-Find your homeschooling tribe. There are other homeschooling families out there who understand what you are going through. Find a local homeschooling group or join an online community to connect with other homeschoolers.

-Make time for yourself. Homeschooling can be all-consuming, but it is crucial to make time for yourself. Whether it is taking a yoga class, going for a run, or reading your favorite book, make sure to schedule some “me” time into your homeschooling day. You can not pour from an empty cup. Make sure that you are taking care of your basic needs every day.

-Get out! One of the best ways to prevent homeschool mom burnout is to get out of the house. Make sure to schedule regular field trips and outings with other homeschooling families. This will help break up the monotony of homeschooling and give you a chance to socialize.

-Be a lifelong learner. The number one thing that has helped me to shift my mindset and prevent burnout is to become a lifelong learner. I spend some time every morning before the kids wake up to read or listen to a podcast on a topic that interests me. This time gives me a sense of purpose and helps me to find myself. Some of the books I have been reading that have been of the most benefit can be found at the bottom of this post.

By following these tips, you can help prevent homeschool mom burnout. Homeschooling is a challenging but rewarding journey, and by taking care of yourself, you can ensure that you can homeschool for the long haul.
